Rainforest Trust UK
Tropical deforestation accounts for 15% of net global carbon emissions every year. Halting tropical deforestation and allowing for regrowth could mitigate up to 50% of net emissions over the next 30 years, yet rainforests are still being cut down at a rate of 60,000 acres a day.
Rainforest Trust have already protected over 37 million acres of rainforest and other tropical ecosystems in partnership with over 190 in-country NGOs. Every acre of rainforest stores over 100 metric tonnes of CO2e which could otherwise enter the atmosphere and drive climate change.
Rainforests also produce 20% of the planet’s oxygen, stabilise global weather patterns, provide habitat for endangered species and sustain the livelihoods of thousands of indigenous communities.
Donations will be doubled by a generous supporter of Rainforest Trust, and as the charity’s operating expenses are covered by its board members, 100% of these donations will go directly to conservation action.
