Rainforest Trust UK
Tropical deforestation accounts for 15% of net global carbon emissions every year. Halting tropical deforestation and allowing for regrowth could mitigate up to 50% of net emissions over the next 30 years, yet rainforests are still being cut down at a rate of 60,000 acres a day.
Rainforest Trust have already protected 23 million acres of rainforest and other tropical ecosystems by working with local NGOs and indigenous communities. Every acre of rainforest stores over 100 metric tonnes of CO2e which could otherwise enter the atmosphere and drive climate change. Rainforests also produce 20% of the planet’s oxygen, stabilise global weather patterns, provide habitat for endangered species and sustain the livelihoods of thousands of indigenous communities.
Donations will be doubled by a generous supporter of Rainforest Trust, and as the charity’s operating expenses are covered by its board members, 100% of these donations will go directly to conservation action.
