London, 12 August 2025 – The Global Returns Project, a charity unlocking new philanthropy to deliver urgent solutions for our planet, has expanded its expertise through the appointment of philanthropy expert Cath Dovey CBE to its Advisory Board and corporate climate action specialist Doree Marentette to its Technical Advisory Board.
The Global Returns Project (GRP) helps individuals and businesses give to a portfolio of high-impact climate and nature charities, providing rigorous impact reporting and reassessments without taking fees or deductions. GRP’s work is guided by an Advisory Board providing strategic guidance and a Technical Advisory Board overseeing charity selection and monitoring.
Cath Dovey CBE brings her expertise in philanthropy and wealth strategy to GRP’s Advisory Board. She is the co-founder of the Beacon Collaborative, a UK-wide movement to increase giving amongst wealthy donors. She was awarded a CBE in January 2024 for services to women and girls, the arts and the economy, and philanthropy. She chaired Philanthropy Impact until 2020, co-founded global wealth management firm Scorpio Partnership, and currently serves as philanthropic partner at New Philanthropy Capital.
Cath Dovey CBE, member of the Advisory Board, said: “In the UK, people who want to donate to charity too often lack the support and advice they need to do so confidently. The Global Returns Project supports donors in this process, ensuring their donations unlock systemic positive change to protect our planet. As the UK philanthropy sector aims to double charitable giving over the next decade, to £20 billion per year, I’m proud to support GRP’s vision to make climate and nature philanthropy more accessible and meaningful within this movement.”
Doree Marentette joins GRP’s Technical Advisory Board in a personal capacity, with extensive expertise in climate action and policy. She currently works as the Associate Director of Strategy and Partnerships at the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Previously, she worked at the European Climate Foundation in a number of roles, including Adviser to the CEO and Management Team on climate accountability and net zero integrity, Director of International Climate Accountability, and Project Manager on COP26. She also acted in senior roles in the UK Government, including as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State during the development of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Doree Marentette, Technical Advisory Board member, said: “The Global Returns Project plays a much-needed role in directing vital funding to science-backed, high-impact climate and nature charities. By funding rigorously vetted organisations, GRP offers a compelling choice for donors who want to meaningfully tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis. I am delighted to support its mission and help GRP’s portfolio of charities to grow and deliver a lasting impact.”
Jack Chellman, Chief Project Officer of the Global Returns Project, said: “Having grown our portfolio fundraising by 50% from FY24 to FY25, this is an exciting time of growth for the Global Returns Project. Cath and Doree join our team at a critical moment – both for our ambitious and scalable organisation and for the planet in this second half of the Decisive Decade.”
